Rulers of Ancient Egypt
12" Wooden Ruler made in U.S.A. of American-grown basswood.
Ancient Egyptian civilization, which began with the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under Menes around 3100 BC, lasted for 32 dynasties and altogether had about 170 rulers, known as pharaohs. So, clearly, this Ruler of the World is just a partial list. We had room for less than half of them.
The pharaohs for our list were chosen either because they represent significant periods in ancient Egyptian history, made important accomplishments in their day, or are simply best known to the general public. The date listed is the first year, or in some cases approximate first year, of their reign.
The “head” image is that of the death mask of young king Tutankhamun (“King Tut”), discovered in 1925 and now housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
